Context
You manage a BeamMP server at Winheberg and want to update it to a newer version? Whether it's to enjoy new features or fix a bug, the process takes just a few minutes from your gaming panel.
This guide walks you through the update step by step, without losing your mods, your maps, or your server configuration.
How do you know if your server needs an update?
BeamMP is nice about it. As soon as a new version is available, the server displays a warning message in the console every minute. If you see this kind of log repeating, it's time to act.
[23/05/26 23:05:57] [WARN] NEW VERSION IS OUT! Please update to the new version (v3.9.3) of the BeamMP-Server! Download it here: https://beammp.com/! For a guide on how to update, visit: https://docs.beammp.com/server/server-maintenance/#updating-the-server

[23/05/26 23:07:57] [WARN] NEW VERSION IS OUT! Please update to the new version (v3.9.3) of the BeamMP-Server!
The message tells you directly the number of the new version available (here v3.9.3). As long as you don't update, this log will show up every minute in your console, which can quickly get in the way when diagnosing other issues.
Keep an eye on your server's console regularly. If you see this warning, take a few minutes to follow the procedure below. It'll save you from running an outdated version that may contain bugs already fixed since.
Prerequisites
Before you start, make sure you have the following.
- An active BeamMP server on your Winheberg gaming panel
- A recent backup of your server (recommended in case of an issue after the update)
- A few spare minutes, ideally during off-peak hours so as not to disturb your players
The process requires deleting a file and reinstalling the server. Your mods, maps, and configuration will be kept, but a backup is always a good precaution before this kind of operation.
Good news, your mods and maps are kept
Before you start, rest assured. The update process doesn't delete your custom content. The Reinstall Server option in the Winheberg panel only replaces the BeamMP server's executable file, without touching your Resources folder, which holds your mods, or your configuration files.
You get your server back exactly as before, just with a newer version of the BeamMP engine.
1. Access your BeamMP server
- Log in to your Winheberg gaming panel
- Select your BeamMP server
- Stop your server if it's currently running (click Stop)
The server must be stopped for the executable file to be deleted. Trying to delete it while it's running won't work, and could corrupt your server.
2. Delete the BeamMP-Server file
Once your server is stopped, go to your server's files.
- In the panel's side menu, click Files
- At the root of your server, find the file named
BeamMP-Server(no extension, since our BeamMP servers run on Linux) - Right-click it and select Delete (or check the box and click Delete)
- Confirm the deletion
Only delete this file. Don't touch the Resources or Server folders, or the ServerConfig.toml file. This way you'll keep all your configuration and mods intact.
3. Reinstall the server from Settings
Once the file is deleted, go back to your server's root page in the panel.
- In the side menu, click Settings
- Scroll down to the Reinstall Server section (or equivalent)
- Click the Reinstall Server button
- Confirm the operation if a window asks you to
The panel will then automatically download the latest version of the BeamMP-Server file and install it in place of the old one.
This operation only redownloads the executable file from BeamMP's official servers. All your mods, maps, and configurations stay strictly intact in their respective folders.
4. Start your server
Once the installation is done, you can restart your server.
- Go back to your server's main page in the panel
- Click Start
- Watch the console to make sure the server starts correctly with the new version
You should see a log message in the console indicating the new BeamMP version running.
5. Check that everything works
To confirm the update went well.
- Connect to the server from your BeamMP client in-game
- Check that your mods are present and working
- Check that your map loads correctly
- Test a few essential features (chat, vehicle spawning, etc.)
If everything works, your BeamMP server is now running the latest version 🎉
If you run into trouble
Here are the most common errors you might run into after an update.
❌ The server doesn't start after reinstalling
Check the panel's console, you'll see the exact error there. The most common causes are the following.
- An incompatible mod with the new BeamMP version, disable it temporarily to confirm
- An outdated configuration file (
ServerConfig.toml), compare it with an example from the new version to spot options that may have changed - A missing dependency on the system side, in that case, contact our support
❌ The "Reinstall Server" button doesn't do anything
If the button doesn't trigger the reinstall, check the following.
- Your server is stopped, the operation doesn't work while the server is running
- You did delete the
BeamMP-Serverfile beforehand - Reload the panel page and try again
❌ My mods stopped working after the update
Some mods may no longer be compatible with the new BeamMP version. Check the mod's page (or its reference forum) to see if there's an updated version compatible with your new server version. Otherwise, you'll need to wait for a mod update, or roll back to an earlier BeamMP version.
❌ My players can't connect anymore
A new server-side BeamMP version may require your players to also have a recent version of their BeamMP client. Ask them to update their client through the official launcher and relaunch the game.
Best practices
A few recommendations for handling your BeamMP updates smoothly.
- Make a backup of your server (mods, configurations, full folder) before every major update
- Don't update during an active gaming session, warn your players and do it during off-peak hours
- Follow BeamMP's news (beammp.com) to anticipate important changes
- Check your mods' compatibility before updating if possible, especially major mods like gameplay frameworks or heavy maps
- Test your server after the update with a few trusted players before announcing the official restart
